Hi goncalp1,
The SoundLink Color does not have any device-specific drivers which would be installed on your computer. Because it connects via Bluetooth, it would rely on the drivers for the computer’s wireless card & bluetooth radio.

If you are having trouble connecting via Bluetooth, making sure that these drivers are up to date in your computer would be a good first step. We suggest checking for new Bluetooth/wireless drivers on the computer manufacturer’s website directly because the Windows «update driver» tool will rarely find the files you need.
If this computer is an older model, make sure that its wireless card supports the A2DP Bluetooth service. A2DP is required to transfer audio to the speaker, and sources which do not support it will be unable to pair. If this is the case, a 3rd party Bluetooth USB adapter can often be used to resolve the issue.
Lastly, make sure to turn off bluetooth temporarily on the iPhone while attempting to pair to the computer. An existing connection could potentially cause problems while making a new one.
Hope this helps get you started with your Bluetooth product.

For pairing your bluetooth Bose speaker to your computer. I have included the link ‘SoundLink® Wireless Mobile speaker update’ to download the actual software, and updates available. According to the page for the download, you will need to have the speaker connected to the computer with a micro USB cord.

If the above step fails to resolve the issue, I will need to know the full model number of your notebook, and what version of Windows you are running. I have included the documents ‘Guide to finding your product number’, and ‘Which Windows operating system am I running?’.

I have tried everything to pair my hp dv6-3121nr to my Bose Soundlink mini speaker. My computer recognizes the Bose but does not connect.

This software update you posted is for the larger Bose Soundlink speaker, and NOT the smaller Bose Soundlink Mini. I too have the same problem pairing my Bose Soundlink Mini with my Windows 8.1 laptop (HP 2000 laptop) with Bluetooth adapter. I really think this is a Windows 8.1 issue but if you know anything that can help troubleshoot this, that would be great.

Hi dfbreit and needforsleep,

I have been working with a couple of other people on this thread but it appears that those speakers are not compatible with laptops. Pinehurst_Ken had contacted Bose and they said his computer lacks A2DP support which is something that is not available on all Bluetooth adapters.

Please click “Accept as Solution ” if you feel my post solved your issue.

Click the “Kudos Thumbs Up» on the right to say “Thanks” for helping!

I work on behalf of HP

After a whole day of searching and digging I have found the solution.

Uninstall the old driver (remove the driver) and install the driver from the link:

It takes a bit to install, but after that it works perfectly!

I solved my own pairing problem by turning on the Windows setting for Bluetooth radio and by using a dongle. I’m now able to broadcast my Itunes library on the laptop to the Bose mini wirelessly!

I have an HP Pavilion g7 notebook pc. My Bose Mini Soundlink speaker worked perfectly with windows 8. When I upgraded to Windows 8.1, it failed to work. I spent a considerable amount of time on the phone with a Bose technician to no avail (although the speaker did work with my tablet and phone.) I tried to troubleshoot on my own through Hardware and Sound/Microsoft Bluetooth enumerator. The device status reported «A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32) I went to the HP site and downloaded 2 driver updates. The Bose Mini Soundlink was connected after that but still did not work. I uninstalled the device, erased the memory and reinstalled. It paired just fine, but the music still does not play through the speakers! Very, very frustrating. Is this a Microsoft issue (apparently). I hope someone can help.

I had the same problem. Here are the steps explained to me by Bose tech support to update the firmware:

1. go to the following site and downlaod and install the update application

This happened to me as well. I had to reset the speaker. If I remember correctly, I had to take it off the charging stand to do this:

Reset the speaker. Press the Mute button for ten seconds, until the indicators briefly flash. Your Bluetooth device is disconnected and the SoundLink® Mini speaker turns off. Press the Power button to turn the speaker back on, and reconnect.

I hope this helps you!

I have contacted with Bose, they said there needs to be an update for the software to detect and perform the task. Since there is no update yet for the mini, the software seems to be stuck and not detecting. I have told them that this is not a convenient way of feedback from software as user may be assuming the software is not working properly. It would have been better for the software to show it detects the item and if there is no update available at the time, notify this with a massage feedback. They said i am certainly wright about this and that they will pass this topic to software engineers.

Apple does not support the software updates for Bose products. Check the Bose website for updates.

Sorry, I mean I did download the softwares update from bose but then when I tried to follow the steps to update it I was stuck at the place where it needs to detect my device.

Check out the Bose product support page > Bose Product Support

I could not see any info at the Bose product support page..

Your BOSE Mini SoundLink needs to be connected to AC, otherwise it won’t update.

Has anyone figured this out, as I am having the same problem. My Mini is hooked up to power and the lights flash, but my PC will not detect the speaker and start the update.

I just bought a Bose SoundLink Mini yesterday and had no problem pairing it to my iPod, iPhone and MBP. After those 3 devices detected the Bose I just clicked on ‘Pair’.

If the Bose is actually paired with your MBP, make sure you change the Sound setting in System Preferences to use the Bose as your Audio Output device.

I’m assuming though, this thread is about using the software on Bose’s sitefor updating the Mini firmware (if one exists)? If so, I think you have to use a micro USB cable to connect the Mini speaker to the Mac for updating (See the question at the site of «How do I connect my SoundLink speaker to my PC/Mac»).

Oct 14, 2013 10:54 AM

I wish that Bose would have provided the USB micro cable with the speaker as well as allow USB charging (as I will be using the speaker in my car). I have tried the one from my hubby’s Samsung phone and it seems to fit, but when my computer downloads the driver software there is a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle of it and my computer will not detect the speaker.

My minisoundlink works fine with my iphone and iTunes via bluetooth, but soon as I want to watch a movie with VLC for example, I’m hearing those clicks and it’s very annoying. I was thinking maybe it has something to do with bluetooth or with pairing issues. I’m using a macbook pro, Mountain Lion.
