[Solved] Windows driver for BCM94360CS2

I’m in the process of putting together a machine that I intend to turn into a hackingtosh, however I cant seem to find windows driver for the PCIE wifi & Bluetooth card. anyone have a link to where to get this? I have searched google but cant seem to find one yet.

I’m trying to make sure that all my components work 100% before trying to build the hackingtosh.

Thanks for that link Brebo, however I purchased all the components for this build as either new or used parts, so I installed windows 10 pro first in attempt to confirm all the components work. which they do, but the wifi & Bluetooth card was not being recognised in the windows device manager so wasn’t able to confirm those worked correctly. I have now found windows drivers for this card and now confirmed that both the driver works and that wifi and Bluetooth work within windows 10 anyway.

Sorry to reopen this thread malcky. I am in a similar situation as edeag3 was in.. I took the BCM94360CD2 from an old MBA and got the M.2 adapter for it. I am in Windows while I wait for my SSD to come, and the WLan driver works, but I can’t find the Bluetooth device in the device manager. Any cues?

Sorry to reopen this thread malcky. I am in a similar situation as edeag3 was in.. I took the BCM94360CD2 from an old MBA and got the M.2 adapter for it. I am in Windows while I wait for my SSD to come, and the WLan driver works, but I can’t find the Bluetooth device in the device manager. Any cues?

As far as I can remember, when I installed windows 10 Pro using the parts I bought. the device manager had some unknown devices or didn’t show on device manager at all for bluetooth or wifi, but when I installed the above driver everything appeared and worked correctly after that.

If you have already installed that driver and the bluetooth device is still not being found, then im a bit stumped and can only think of the following things to look at:

Could one of the small pin leads have popped off the card during the install?
Is the card a known WORKING card to start with?
Is there a bluetooth enable ON/OFF option in your bios?

Is there a BCM94331CD (NOT BCM94360CD) driver for Windows?

I recently acquired a BCM94331CD WiFi card, intending to use it with my laptop. It came with a mini PCIe adapter, and it worked natively in macOS, as expected. But I couldn’t find a driver for Windows, and coverage on this card is often overshadowed by the more expensive (and out of my price range) BCM94360CD.

If anyone knows about a Windows driver for this card, please tell me. Thank you in advance for your help.

I had build in early 2018 a triple boot computer Linux Ubuntu 16.04, Microsoft Windows 7 x64 and macOS 10.13 High Sierra. The UEFI boot used being Grub2 for its ease of configuration.

I am currently building a new one with Broadcom chip BCM94360CD and had to circumvent the fact that Intel removed all Windows 7 drivers from its Z390 chipset on Microsoft request. So the installer is locked on the first screen as there is no support either for USB, Mouse & Keyboard.

I first installed in 2018 a TP-LINK Archer T9E, recommended here as a compatible Wi-Fi solution for macOS. I installed first Linux Ubuntu, then Windows 7 x64 and later macOS 10.13. I did install the Windows driver provided by TP-Link on its website:

Later on I decided to replace the TP-Link Archer T9E by a Broadcom BCM94331CD 802.11a/b/g WiFi card + Bluetooth 4.0 for Apple A1418 A1419 with a PCI-e 1X Adapter. Following this hardware change I had nothing to do to see it fully supported in 7 x64. I later checked that the Windows drivers mostly support all the B43xx family. So I believe that if you download the TP-Link drivers you will have full support for Windows 7 8 and 10. As it has recently been updated for Windows 10.

I believe as well that windows drivers labelled here as for chip BCM94360CD would work as well for chip BCM94331CD. Although I didn’t yet test it.

However the caveat is that TP-Link drivers do not support the Bluetooth capability of the chip(s).

Still the trouble was to get it work in Linux Ubuntu. The device ID is found by issuing the command:

So it’s 14e4:4331 and the vendor is of course Broadcom.

Trouble is that the Ubuntu guide to install a working driver miss some points.

The firmware is not redistributable by Intel due to license restrictions by Broadcom. To get it you have to download & install the linux package firmware-b43-installer. But the working driver is provided by the bcmwl-kernel-source package for both chips.

I did install as well package broadcom-sta-dkms.

In order to work you have to blacklist all other drivers:

and whitelist the working wl driver:

This is working as well for chip Broadcom BCM94360CD.

To fully support Bluetooth in Windows, separate Broadcom Bluetooth Windows drivers exist for all BCM43xx:

Another source of Windows drivers is Fenvi for its Fenvi FV-T919 PCIe WiFi + Bluetooth card using Chipest Broadcom BCM94360.

Equally strange, contrary to the affirmation above station-drivers does have Windows drivers for Broadcom 43xx chipset. A simple search with the only word Broadcom does return a full listing of what they have. Then a targeted search with Broadcom bcm-43xx return an appropriate list of drivers available for Windows.

To close the comment I would say that TP-Link has discontinued the sale of its Archer T9E. So maybe you have to get the drivers while they are still posted on their website.

One surprising observation is that in Windows 7 the BCM94360CD chip has a 5 GHz signal receive strength far lower (like 10 to 20 %) [with the Windows driver from tonymacx86 linked above] than the BCM94331CD chip (

Возможно, вы читали мой предыдущий опыт перехода на АС. Напомню, что я попытался перейти с карты Intel 6235 на 7260 и это был фейл. Мало того, что на новой карте не заработал блютуз (уточню — в моей системе), так еще и карта была довольно глючной — то теряла точки доступа, то по скорости просаживалась.

Промучавшись неделю в стараниях завести 7260, я принял решение поберечь свои нервы и пробовать альтернативу от Broadcom.
С новой картой все срослось, а кому интересны детали — добро пожаловать под кат:

Еще на момент написания обзора про первую карту, я уже знал про альтернативы от Broadcom. Поэтому, поняв, что с интеловой картой у меня не срослось, я начал изучать информацию про подходящим броадкомовским карточкам.

В качестве решения проблемы народ предлагает или использовать переходники в U.Fl, или менять антенны целиком. Переходник в моем буке не влезет, а с заменой антенн вообще темная ситуация: люди, которые меняли антенны, отмечали более нестабильный прием сигнала. Мне тяжело объяснить это. Вероятно, или низкое качество антенн, или неправильно подобранные параметры.

В общем, вот такая вот лотерея + пришлось бы разбирать целиком два бука. Так что, погрустив, решил отказаться от карт на 4360 в пользу карт на чипе 4352.

Как видно, в моей партии на лицевой стороне никаких красивых наклеек не было, в отличие от фото товара на странице продавца (в превьюшке, в описании карта точно такая же). Впрочем, лично меня этот вопрос интересовал меньше всего — все равно в ноутбуке ее не будет видно.

Установка в ноутбук, разумеется, никаких сложностей не вызывает: все аналогично предыдущим картам:

Естественно, меня интересовали вопросы скорости работы, стабильности и проблем с BT.

Отмазка:
Замечу, что скорости далеки от идеальных. Все просто: конечно же, я мог поставить ноутбук прямо около роутера и получить максимальную скорость, но толку от этого? С другой стороны, мои реальные цифры другому человеку тоже ничего не скажут, ведь у всех помещения разные. Поэтому смотреть стоит не на абсолютные цифры, а на относительные. Все замеры я проводил по три раза, усредняя результаты. Чтобы избежать возможного кэширования, файлы были взяты больших размеров (DVD-образы)

EA6900 + 7260 в режиме AC 5.0 ГГц, прием и отдача:

Видно, что 7260 выступила лучше, чем в первом обзоре. Это может объясняться кучей факторов (игры с драйверами и прочие оптимизации, не так стояла мебель в квартире и т.д.), поэтому напрямую сравнивать цифры с первым обзором нельзя.

В итоге у меня получилось следующее:

Как можно увидеть, есть даже небольшой прирост относительно 7260, работавшей в том же стандарте. Объяснений тут могу выдвинуть два. Во-первых, более нестабильные драйверы у Intel. Во-вторых, данная карточка Broadcom имеет некую технологию формирования луча (Beam-Forming), требующую поддержки со стороны роутера. Роутером выступал Linksys EA6900, в котором за беспроводную часть отвечает тоже Broadcom и он тоже поддерживает эту технологию. Кроме того, для броадкомовской карты есть две ветки драйверов — 6я и 7я. Если честно, я не очень понял, в чем между ними разница, но народ в соответствующей ветке на ixbt считает, что 6я ветка шустрее. Тесты я проводил на версии драйверов 6.3.42.235

По поводу работы Bluetooth. Напомню, что на 7260 я так и не смог победить блютуз: как устройство он присутствовал, но использовать его система не могла.
В случае Broadcom BCM4352 мой ноутбук блютуз просто не увидел. Но, настрадавшись с 7260, я первым делом попробовал заклеить пин 51 и устройство в системе появилось. Далее я накатил драйвер (Windows 8.1 не нашла его сама) и вуаля!

Думаю, что стоит поговорить и о стабильности работы карты. Я специально не стал торопиться с позитивным обзором. С карточкой сижу уже полтора месяца и претензий по стабильности не имею. Точку доступа не теряет, скорость на пустом месте не скачет.

Вывод: если есть роутер с поддержкой стандарта АС, то рекомендую обратить внимание на данную карту. Единственная найденная шерховатость — для работы BT может потребоваться заклеить 51й пин

This page provides support information on Broadcom BCM43xx wireless network cards. The aim of Ubuntu is to ensure all card models work automatically with no, or minimal configuration. For example, via System > Administration > Hardware/Additional Drivers. If you are having a WiFi issue, please see below on getting this addressed.

Identifying Your Broadcom BCM43xx Chipset

With this information, you may assess what drivers are supported for your card, and how to switch to a different driver from the instructions below.

Internal cards

To identify a card that was installed inside your computer prior to purchase, please open a Terminal and execute:

Drivers available in Ubuntu

The following is an overview of the different drivers that are available for Broadcom wireless devices.

Broadcom STA Wireless driver (Proprietary)

The propietary Broadcom STA Wireless driver is maintained upstream by Broadcom. As this driver is closed source, fixes in the driver itself may only be provided by Broadcom. As a convenience, Ubuntu offers two versions of this driver:

The bcmwl-kernel-source package aims to offer a later version for a given release. Instructions for installation may be found later in this article.

The broadcom-sta package aims to offer an earlier version for a given release.

As per the Broadcom readme file for driver version 6.30.223.271, the following devices are compatible:

b43 driver (Open-source)

For Chip ID BCM 4306 (rev 03), 4311, 4312, 4318, 4322, 4331, 43224 and 43225.

The b43 infrastructure is composed of two parts. The first is the firmware-b43-installer package. This is simply a script to extract and install the b43 driver firmware, maintained by the Ubuntu community. The second is the b43 driver, maintained upstream by the Linux kernel community. Instructions to install the package may be found below.

b43legacy driver (Open-source)

For Chip ID BCM 4301, 4306 (rev 02), and 4309.

The b43legacy infrastructure is composed of two parts. The first is the firmware-b43legacy-installer package. This is simply a script to extract and install the b43legacy driver firmware, maintained by the Ubuntu community. The second is the b43 driver, maintained upstream by the Linux kernel community. Instructions to install the package may be found below.

brcmsmac driver (Open-source)

For Chip ID BCM 4313, 43224 and 43225.

The open-source brcmsmac driver for PCIe devices is available from the brcm80211 module of the linux kernel package, maintained upstream by the linux kernel community. For more granular support information, please see their wiki page here.

brcmfmac driver (Open-source)

SDIO: For Chip ID BCM 4329, 4330, 4334, 4335, 4354, 43143, 43241, and 43362.
USB: For Chip ID BCM 43143, 43242, 43566, and 43569.

The open-source brcmfmac driver is available from the brcm80211 module of the linux kernel package, maintained upstream by the linux kernel community. For more granular support information, please see their wiki page here.

rndis_wlan driver (Open-source)

For Chip ID BCM 4320.

The open-source rndis_wlan driver is available from the linux kernel package, maintained upstream by the linux kernel community. For more granular support information, please see their wiki page here.

ndiswrapper (Open-source)

The ndiswrapper package utilizes the Windows closed source drivers to activate your WiFi card. It is maintained upstream here. For installation instructions, please see here.

If you have some other kind of Internet access on your computer (e.g. via an ethernet cable) then use the instructions below.

12.04 (Precise Pangolin)

Open a Terminal and install the bcmwl-kernel-source package:

Note: If you see the message «Module build for the currently running kernel was skipped since the kernel source for this kernel does not seem to be installed» then you are missing the appropriate generic linux-header package(s).

To test the driver (and remove the need for a computer restart) use:

Allow several seconds for the network manager to scan for available networks before attempting a connection.

The bcmwl-kernel-source package should automatically blacklist the open source drivers so that the STA driver is the only one in use.

If you do not have any other means of Internet access on your computer, you can install the bcmwl-kernel-source package from the restricted folder under ../pool/restricted/b/bcmwl on the Ubuntu install media.

Note: The bcmwl-kernel-source package depends on the linux-headers packages so you may need to first retrieve the appropriate package(s) from the online repositories. A running LiveCD/LiveUSB environment has these packages (allowing the wireless to work), but an installed system may not. Make sure you have the linux-headers package that matches your current kernel version, plus the appropriate generic header packages so that they are automatically updated on a kernel upgrade. To find out your current kernel use the command:

To find what linux-headers packages you have installed use the command:

Systems installed from CDROM can add the install CD as a package source and install bcmwl-kernel-source using apt-get as above. However, if you want to do it manually then the instructions are as follows:

Navigate the install media and install the packages listed below by double clicking OR install the packages consecutively from a Terminal (in the commands below the install media is mounted at /cdrom, but yours maybe different):

Upstream 802.11 Linux STA driver

Installing b43/b43legacy firmware

The Ubuntu kernel now provides the b43 driver, however due to copyright restrictions not the proprietary firmware which is required to run your card. The following instructions explain how to extract the required firmware.

Open a Terminal and if you haven’t already done so, update your package list:

If you have a b43 card use the command

or, if you need the b43legacy driver, use:

or, (12.04) if you need a LP-PHY version (e.g BCM4312), use:

Restart the computer or reload the b43/b43legacy module as outlined in the Switching between drivers section below (replace b43 with b43legacy where appropriate).

If you do not have any other means of Internet access from Ubuntu, then you will have to download the firmware from another computer with Internet access, from an existing OS on another partition, or before you install Ubuntu. You will also need the b43-fwcutter package which is usually included on the install media or can be downloaded from the official online repositories.

Install the b43-fwcutter package. This is usually located on the Ubuntu install media under /cdrom/pool/main/b/b43-fwcutter/ or you can download the binary ‘.deb’ package by following the links on launchpad.

Double click on the package to install or in a Terminal issue the following commands:

On a computer with Internet access, download the required firmware file:

Copy the downloaded file to your home folder. Open a new Terminal and use b43-fwcutter to extract and install the firmware:

b43legacy

b43 (12.04 Precise Pangolin)

b43 (14.04 Trusty Tahr)

Restart the computer or reload the b43/b43legacy module as outlined in the Switching between drivers section below (replace b43 with b43legacy where appropriate).

Switching between drivers

If you card is supported by more than one driver then use the modprobe command to test the drivers. First unload all conflicting drivers (this includes removing the driver you’re trying to install):

To load a specific driver use one of the following commands:

Allow several seconds for the network manager to scan for available networks before attempting a connection.

After a reboot the system may auto-load a different driver to the one you wanted to use. Consequently, for permanent use, you may find it necessary to blacklist the driver/module you are not using. In the command below replace drivername with the driver you want to blacklist:

Update the initramfs after any changes to the blacklist files:

Note: The bcmwl-kernel-source package will automatically blacklist the open source drivers/modules in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-bcm43.conf.

If you wish to permanently use the open source drivers then remove the bcmwl-kernel-source package:

Broadcom STA Wireless driver

While using either the bcmwl-kernel-source or broadcom-sta-source package from the Ubuntu repositories (not a recompiled/custom version) execute one of the following via a terminal:

Please comment to how testing ndiswrapper for your card type provides a WORKAROUND. If it doesn’t work, please file a bug report as per the support article.

If the version of the driver you are using in the repository is the latest version available as per Broadcom, Broadcom wants you to send them an email about this to linux-wlan-client-support-list@broadcom.com. Please post their response to your report.

If the version of the driver you are using in the repository is an older version than that available from Broadcom, then contacting them would not apply. Instead, an investigation would need to occur to see if the version available for your release should be updated.

b43/b43legacy firmware utility

Before filing a bug report about b43 or b43legacy, it’s important to distinguish this as a issue with the firmware extraction script, or the driver itself. If it’s an issue with the script, one will need to install the version from the Ubuntu repositories (not a recompiled/custom version) and then execute via a terminal either:

Once all of the required information is present, if the version of the driver you are using is the latest version available from the Ubuntu repositories, then one would want to e-mail the b43-dev mailing list following this procedure.
