Windows 10

REN «%ProgramData%\\Microsoft\\User Account Pictures\\user-192.png» «user-192.bak»

COPY «%SystemRoot%\\SystemApps\\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\\Assets\\TransparentPixel.png» «%ProgramData%\\Microsoft\\User Account Pictures\\user-192.png»

REG ADD «HKLM\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Policies\\Explorer» /v UseDefaultTile /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

REN «%ProgramData%\\Microsoft\\User Account Pictures\\user-192.png» «user-192.bak»

COPY «%SystemRoot%\\SystemApps\\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\\Assets\\TransparentPixel.png» «%ProgramData%\\Microsoft\\User Account Pictures\\user-192.png»

REG ADD «HKLM\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Policies\\Explorer» /v UseDefaultTile /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

DEL /F /Q «%ProgramData%\\Microsoft\\User Account Pictures\\user-192.png»

REN «%ProgramData%\\Microsoft\\User Account Pictures\\user-192.bak» «user-192.png»

REG DELETE «HKLM\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Policies\\Explorer» /v UseDefaultTile /f

DEL /F /Q «%ProgramData%\\Microsoft\\User Account Pictures\\user-192.png»

REN «%ProgramData%\\Microsoft\\User Account Pictures\\user-192.bak» «user-192.png»

REG DELETE «HKLM\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Policies\\Explorer» /v UseDefaultTile /f

How to Find Windows 10’s Spotlight Lock Screen Pictures

By Andrew E. Freedman 08 September 2016

If you have Windows 10’s default, Spotlight feature enabled, your lock screen shows gorgeous images courtesy of Microsoft. Some of these high-quality photos are nature shots while others are pictures of great cities around the world. The pictures rotate several times a day, but what if you see an image you like and want to keep a copy of it on your laptop? Windows keeps these Windows 10 lock screen photos buried deep in a hidden directory, but with a bit of digging, you can find them, save them and even use them as desktop wallpaper.

Here’s how to find Windows 10’s Spotlight lock screen images:

How to find Windows 10’s Lock Screen Images

1. Click View in File Explorer.

2. Click Options. A Folder Options window will appear.

3. Click the View tab.

4. Select «Show hidden files, folders and drives» and click Apply.

5. Go to This PC > Local Disk (C:) > Users > [YOUR USERNAME] > AppData > Local > Packages > Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy > LocalState > Assets

You’ll be presented with a plethora of file names that make absolutely no sense and show no extensions. There’s no great method of telling which ones are beautiful photos and which are icons, but you’re better off clicking on items with larger file sizes.

6. Copy the most recent large files to another folded (ex: pictures).

You should now be able to view the pictures in any image viewer or editor you want.

One more thing: keep in mind that Microsoft adds and removes these at its whim. If you see one you like, pounce on it and make a copy before it goes away, possibly forever.

Windows 10 picture login

I’m having difficulty reverting back to picture login. I have been using picture login for the last four years and yesterday my daughter changed the login option (from the login screen) to typing the password. I have no idea what my typed password is and now cannot revert back to picture login. The button for changing login options is no longer visible on the login screen.

Hello Terry, my name is Farah and I’m an Independent Adviser. I can help you regarding this problem

There was a small trick to access the other login options,
On the login screen, press the Tab key on your keyboard., after doing that, you should see a password input field. Now click on Sign in Options and enter your PIN if you have one.

Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it’s resolved

Sorry, but that doesn’t fix the issue. Striking the TAB key only moves me through the fields of the login screen, none of which have anything to do switching login options. I have 40+ years of experience with computers, mostly Windows based and have never seen an issue such as this. I find it confusing that Microsoft made it so easy for my daughter to change the login mode in the first place. A person who was intentionally locked out of accessing my operating system. Thanks for your help.

To be able to use that method I would first have to be logged into Windows. My problem is that I’m stuck at the login screen and cannot proceed further.

This action of being able to switch back to my original picture login screen should be incredibly easy. Not sure how Microsoft missed this.

there is an option to reset your password if you were using your Microsoft account as a login and not a local admin account.

I do have a Microsoft account. Unfortunately, it’s not linked to my desktop computer. I only use it on my mobile devices.

I appreciate your effort with this issue. Looks like I’m going to have to pay tech support to fix their own problem.

To create a picture password for your user account, you need to open the Settings app. In the Settings app, go to Accounts. On the left side of the Settings window, choose «Sign-in options.» Then, on the right side of the Settings app, you see several settings and buttons that are related to signing into Windows 10.

It wasn’t done already this activity.

Currently this is my wallpaper which was set by Webshots (the old version):

I set this to my lock screen an login screen:

NOTE: I browsed that image, which the Webshots put to the wallpaper, so if it sets a new wallpaper that file will be changed to the new one.

Lock screen is now:

So, this is what I expected. Both are same (also the login screen has this image too, I just didn’t took a screenshot from it).

Now, the image is changed by Webshots to this:

The file was changed which I browsed previously where I set the lock screen image, and if I saw now my lock screen and my login screen, I see the old wallpaper there:

If I watch the properties, I see this was detected:

So, I think, somewhere the windows cache this image for latter use. How can I turn that off, or how can I say the windows to read this file, and set this file every time, when you want to print lock screen or login screen’s background. Any registry tweaks can come, because this is not in the UI, I’m sure.

To provide the best solution, we’d like to learn more about your concern. Can you tell us if you’ve set the Background and Lock screen on Slideshow with the folder you designated? If so, have you tested if this issue re-occurs on a different user profile?

Looking forward to your response.

Remove User Account Picture From Sign-in Screen in Windows 10

How to Remove User Account Picture From Sign-in Screen in Windows 10

By default, Windows 10 assigns a barebones user avatar for every user account with a grey background and the user represented by white curves. You can get rid of that picture and have only your user name on the sign-in screen in Windows 10.

The user picture will be visible every time you sign in with your Windows 10 account. It is also visible in the Start menu as a tiny round thumbnail.

Instead of the default image, you can use your favorite wallpaper or your real photo. If your account is a Microsoft Account, the image you set will be uploaded to Microsoft’s servers and used in all their cloud services like OneDrive, Office 365 and so on. By default, it will be synced across all your devices.

However, it is not possible to remove the user picture image using the built-in options of the OS. If you manually set a transparent image as your user avatar, Windows 10 still shows a background color.

To resolve this issue, you can set a transparent picture as your user avatar without involving Settings by using the File Explorer.

To Remove User Account Picture From Sign-in Screen in Windows 10,

You are done! The user avatar will disappear from the sign-in screen for all users of Windows 10.

It seem like the user.png must be changed for me at least. Running 1903 update,

Here it works without changing other files.

Yeah, same for me. Of course that means every other instance of the avatar is also transparent, which is not optimal but not too big of a deal. Weird. Anyway, great directions, this looks much better!

This is very useful because of the unfortunate fashion of forcing user images to be circular because it’s very difficult to find a picture of anything that doesn’t look awkward in that shape. The ability to get rid of it completely makes that sign in page look much better.

I changed that pic to a custom avatar image long ago.

Running 1809, changed both user-192.png and user.png, still not working.

Don’t forget about group policy.

Won’t work for me – R1903

at 100% it works fine but when i am changing Display Setting> Scale and Lay out to 125% or 150% it does not work. Any more idea?
